Personality:

Your first impression of Fiora might be that she's a sweet, loving, cheerful young woman. And you'd be right! She's incredibly peppy and always willing to help. She looks out for the people in her life, whether it's taking care of her injured brother, Dunban, or making sure Shulk doesn't forget to eat. She's very much an extrovert, and she enjoys surrounding herself with friends ("It's wonderful to be with everyone!"). She can make friends easily, so much so that this is even present in gameplay: her affinity levels with the other party members rise the fastest. Dunban remarks that her smile alone was enough to cheer everyone up in Colony 9 in the days when Mechon attacks were a common occurrence. She's very proactive, and jumps at the chance to help out, whether it's defending the colony against Mechon or just accepting fetch quests from NPCs ("Ah-ah! I'm coming along as well. I'd feel better going with you boys than sitting at home worrying about you. So, let's get moving."). She even has no problem helping the strange, foreign being that takes up residence in her head against her will. Granted, this being ends up being the benevolent goddess Meyneth, who also wishes to restore peace between Bionis and Mechonis, but Fiora's not aware of that until much later. Despite that, she still desires to help Meyneth because she knows from the start that the goddess wants to help, and in turn wants to assist her ("She knew what I wanted to do and did it for me. So, I want to help her if I can.").

Despite appearances, though, she's hardly a demure homemaker. She may not have the military training that Shulk and Reyn have (though it's worth noting she was considered for the colony's defense force), but she's still a survivor of the Mechon attacks and she can still fight just as well as they can. When they're surrounded by enemy Mechon, she refuses to leave Shulk and Reyn's side until they swear to her that they'll be right behind her ("You two can't do this by yourselves! I wanna fight as well!"). She never leaves home without a pair of knives (even in peacetime), and after she rejoins the group with her new Mechon form, she's a force to be reckoned with.

She's driven, but it comes from a deep-seated lack of confidence. As a Mechon, she's a super-powered cyborg that can dual wield swords and can fire frickin' laser beams, but despite all that, she still expresses genuine worry that she is nothing but a burden to the rest of the party. When she reawakens on the Fallen Arm, she even tells Shulk that he can leave her there, claiming that the Fiora he knew was dead and he would be better off without her, and when she is reunited with Dunban, the first thing she does is apologize to him for making him worry. This also comes up in several Heart-to Heart-segments, with nearly every other party member having to reassure her that, no, they don't pity her, and they don't think she's a waste of space. She confesses to Shulk and Dunban that she's anxious about returning to Colony 9 as a Mechon, because she's afraid the people she grew up with and have known her all her life will be afraid of her. More than anything, she hates the thought of being seen as or feeling weak or useless. Therefore, she pushes herself to her limits to prove to herself that she isn't any of those things.

Her self-doubt causes her to be extremely reckless, because in addition to proving herself to, well, herself, she also becomes very self-sacrificing. She simply doesn't value her own life as much as the lives of everyone else. This becomes tragically clear when she pilots a mobile artillery unit against Metal Face. She ignores Shulk's desperate pleading for her to back away, and angrily proclaims her intent to save Colony 9 even as Metal Face blasts the unit to pieces. By the time she realizes her attacks have no effect, it's too late, and Metal Face incapacitates and skewers her. Sure, she gets better, but for all intents and purposes, she dies, and quite violently at that.

After they're reunited, she makes a promise to Dunban that she's learned from her mistakes and she'll stop being so reckless. However, it's a promise she doesn't keep, as there are several more instances of her putting herself in between danger and a loved one. Once in Agniratha to stop Egil from trying to kill Shulk, and again to shield Dunban from a Telethia attack at Colony 6. On top of that, there's the matter of Meyneth dying: Fiora knows she's living on borrowed time without the goddess' power, and she could have left the party to enter the regeneration chamber and become a Homs again, but she chooses not to because she believes she would be of more use to everyone as a Mechon despite that it's literally killing her. So much for being more careful.

She also tries to put on a brave face to hide her fears and save everyone else the trouble of worrying about her. In a heart-to-heart with Dunban, she begins talking about the advantages that her Mechon form offers her, which makes him think that she's taking it a little too well- that she's just trying to convince him that she's okay with suddenly being a robot, and isn't actually that excited about having built-in GPS features. When it's revealed that without Meyneth, she doesn't have long to live, Fiora tries to brush it off, saying "I'll be fine for now", and even goes to great lengths to make sure Shulk doesn't find out, lest it make him distraught.

She gives off an air of being fearless in battle. Much of her dialogue conveys an air of enthusiasm about her. She'll start a battle with "I'm gonna go all out!" and end it with "Let's press on, and on and ON!", implying that she's not even winded. Against particularly strong enemies, one of her quotes is "If we don't try it, we'll never know!" She's not above making light of the situation either, as she even jokes about making one-hit kills. That said, Fiora is far from bloodthirsty. She's well aware of the gruesome reality of war and violence, and her behavior is more of an attempt to keep the mood light and everyone else's spirits up. If an opportunity arises to resolve a conflict peacefully, she will take it without question.

Because she's always pushing herself to do her best, she expects the same of everyone else around her. She tends to get annoyed when she sees someone acting wishy-washy or not giving their all. As a result, she can come off as overbearing. This is most notable in her quest to discover whether or not Shulk has a sense of taste, to the point where this becomes a running gag in the early game. It's played as something silly between friends, but she's still peeved at his inability to make a commitment. There are several side conversations where she chides Shulk and Reyn for being lazy, forgetful, or inconsiderate (Reyn moreso than Shulk, to be fair), and even though he's completely unrealistic about it, she's supportive of Riki when he expresses a desire to explore the vast ocean beyond the Mechonis. The exception to this is when someone clearly has given their all, such as when Fiora dotes on Dunban after he's permanently paralyzed his arm from wielding the Monado. In this case, Fiora dials up the care-taking to 11, serving him meals while he lies in bed and being downright horrified when he mentions taking up the Monado again.

She wants to be everyone else's rock, and she tries (oh my god does she try), but as she tends to wear her heart on her sleeve, it doesn't always work out. She more than makes up for it with her cheerful and caring demeanor, though.
